Some moments in a legal career stay with you. Not because of a courtroom victory or a milestone case, but because they make you pause and truly feel the weight of the work you do. Reading the recent Straits Times feature titled ST Statista 2026 Top Rated Lawyers was one of those moments for me. I felt deeply honoured to be named as one of the top lawyers in Singapore in Employment Law, Family Law, and Negligence.

This recognition is meaningful not only because of the breadth of practice areas but also because it reflects the journey that my firm, Clifford Law LLP, has taken over the years. Our firm has been top rated in Negligence from 2021 to 2026. We have been top rated in Family Law from 2021 to 2026. We have also been top rated in Employment Law from 2023 to 2026. These rankings are not just acknowledgments of legal ability. They speak to the trust that clients have placed in us during some of the most difficult chapters of their lives.

When I think back on the cases that brought us here, I think of people rather than files. I remember sitting across from families trying to navigate the pain of separation. I remember employees who came to us unsure of what their future would look like after an unfair dismissal. I remember accident victims who walked into our office still in shock, unsure of what recovery might even mean. Every one of these individuals carried a story that mattered. And each one reminded me why our work must always be grounded in compassion and clarity.

That is why this recognition moves me. It is not simply a line in a newspaper. It is a reflection of moments shared with clients who allowed us into the most private parts of their lives. It is a reflection of the trust that they placed in Clifford Law LLP. It is a reminder that law is never only about the outcome. It is about guiding people through the storms they never expected to face.

The Straits Times feature also mentioned my appointment as a Law Society Pro Bono Ambassador for 2025, something I am grateful for. The law must be accessible to all, and my work in private practice, together with my commitment to pro bono service, is one way I try to ensure that. For me, serving the community is not separate from legal practice. It is part of its core purpose.

As 2026 begins, I find myself thinking about responsibility. Recognition is meaningful, but it also reminds me to stay grounded, stay present, and continue serving clients with sincerity and dedication. My goal remains unchanged. To advocate with conviction. To listen with care. To contribute to a legal community that believes in justice and humanity.

I am grateful to the Straits Times and Statista for this recognition. I am especially grateful to the clients and peers who took the time to recommend me. My thanks also go to Senior Law Correspondent K C Vijayan for the feature and for his continued dedication to telling the stories that shape our profession.

No lawyer achieves anything alone. Clifford Law LLP is supported by a team that works tirelessly, and by a legal community that inspires and challenges us. I am thankful to walk this path with all of them, and I look forward to what this new year brings.
